AND THEN WHAT HAPPENS? Exhibition of Slovenian Illustration

The title of the exhibition refers to a child’s curiosity—the desire to turn the page and discover what happens next. In a broader sense, it raises the question of where we are directing our shared future, and how books—and the illustrations within them—can contribute to optimism and inspire motivation for change.

An expert committee of the Slovenian Book Agency, in collaboration with the Slovenian Illustration Centre, presents the imaginative and stylistic diversity of contemporary Slovenian illustrators. The exhibition, prepared for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair—where Slovenia was the Guest of Honour in 2024—highlights the work of award-winning Slovenian authors and illustrators whose original works in children’s and young adult book illustration have received recognition both at home and internationally.
