What I Look At and What I See Marine Organisms for People with Visual Impairments

The exhibition presents works created during the International Summer School Kaverljag, which took place in Pliskovica in the Karst region between 21 and 28 July 2024, with participants from partner institutions from five European countries.

With this project, the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana (UL ALUO) and the Kaverljag Association continue their collaboration—after a longer pause—on topics related to environmental protection and social sustainability. The theme of this year’s exhibition is marine biology explored through scientific illustration, but with a specific goal: visualisation designed for people with visual impairments.

The exhibition is the result of a project carried out within the measures RSF “Student Projects for Sustainable Development: B.II.3” (Development and strengthening of cooperation in transnational interinstitutional learning communities) and “Encouraging the inclusion of non-traditional/underprivileged groups in higher education (S.C.1.3)”, as well as the research programme P5-0452 Visual Literacy at the University of Ljubljana, Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, co-funded by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS).
